for being with us. i'm steve chenevey. >> and i'm allison seymour. that pesky little humidity is creeping back into the forecast. tony perkins is joining us with the details. not just the nasty humidity. >> i keep saying that. today is a transition day. we've had great weather for the week. today is not so great. it will be humid, warmer, more clouds and it will set us up for a wonderful weekend. high clouds streaming through early this morning. you'll see some sun filter through but the clouds will thicken up and by tonight mostly cloudy skies. right now 69 in the capital. 62 at dulles. dover, delaware, 67 degrees. today clouds on the increase. warm temperatures. more humid than it has been. breezy with winds out of the south at 10-15 miles per hour. that's a look at the weather. now an update on traffic and for that we go to julie wright. >>> not so bad right now if you're at the wilson bridge. the inner loop of the beltway slowing leaving braddock toward 66. and the lanes are open. eastbound 66 tied up as you work in from the virginia visitor's center and nutley street to the beltway.
. apparently it is training that is the issue. the people that were supposed to set them up and use them today had some problems setting them up. about six machines not working at this point or maybe they have been fixed at this point. but at last talk to the elections officials they told us they are having some issues. but the precincts are still open. you are still able to go in and fill out a ballot like i did this morning with a pencil and paper. basically the easy way of doing it instead of going to the new high-tech machines. now let's talk about the candidates. a busy morning. a lot of them up very early this morning. we have some video of vincent gray this morning voting at the precinct near his home in southeast, along alabama avenue. that happened about an hour and a half ago. he voted there near his home. also we have been told that adrian fenty also voted near his home on 13th street northwest. we're in the process of trying to get that video. it's on the way back to the station. we'll get it on as soon as possible. but we do have some video about 5:30 this morning of a rally that

. >> karen gray houston has been covering this race. she joins us to talk about it. thank you for coming in. it was a late night. >> yes. at 2:30. >> you were with the fenty camp last night and give me a sense of what they were feeling last night? do they have a sense of why things turned out the way they did? >> if you watched who was at the campaign headquarters, it was young campaign volunteers and workers. they were -- the average age was 25 or less. and so it was really -- i've covered a lot of the primary elections and general elections and you normally see people attached to your administration, there were a few of those there. people from outside of the government, civic groups, church and union leaders and none of those people were there. so that was a little bit unusual. did they get why it happened? i think what happened is people want to like their mayor and it had gotten to the point where he was not as likeable and they were used to. he had a couple of terms as a city counsel person who was mr. constituent. if you needed something, he would show up and try to get it for you. a

election day. >>> good morning. thank you for being with us. i'm steve chenevey. >> and i'm allison seymour. it is 7:00 a.m. and the polls are just opening in the district and in maryland. they'll be open for the next 13 hours, closing tonight at 8:00. >> when the results come in there could be a major change in leadership in the nation's capital. vincent gray has been enjoying leads at the poles over fenty, but the question is can the incumbent turn out enough votes for four more years. we'll share our final interviews with mr. fenty and gray in a moment. >>> the other big race is in prince george's county where there will be a change in leadership and it's likely one of these two men will become the next county executive. we have that state this morning. >>> and state races across maryland, including the state house and senate and local races in several counties, we'll have that all for you this morning. >>> in the meantime, tony perkins joins us this morning. straight up 7:00. this morning is starting off clearer than yesterday. a lot of fog yesterday. >> yeah, today looks good. it's fin
with us? i thought i heard her for a second. >> well our coverage does continue with a look at the traffic. >> this is never ending. this is southbound 395 out of d.c. at washington boulevard where the main line of traffic is blocked. no one is getting by. 395 at the scene of the accident with fire and rescue equipment responding. delays building from the pentagon southbound on 395. now northbound lanes are open in the h.o.v. and main line and crawling out of newington toward 14th street bridge. so the accident occurred on the southbound side, main line closed as you can see here. fire rescue on the scene, 95 close to washington boulevard. here is the accident involving the two metro buses. this is eastbound university boulevard in the direction of four corners approaching burdett. and delays building back near arcola. in the direction of wieston -- wheaton, all lanes are open. exit slow among this stretch and an earlier incident cleared near georgetown road. that's a check of your fox 5 on- time traffic. >>> we have sarah again. what is going on in kinsington? >> reporter: well i don't kn
to the wire. and we have some video of the gift card controversy. hidden camera style that was given to us by a fenty supporter who postd it on you tube and it was thought that councilman gray's campaign was handing out the gift cards as an effort to entire people to come out and vote early. that will be a flagrant violation of the law. both sides disavowed any knowledge of this and cora masters barry did say she was handing out the cards, but after the fact to thank people for voting. and behind me there is early voting going on. fenty workers are out there. and they've been out here many days people are able to cast their ballots. the area at 1 judiciary square is alreadyered with -- is littered with campaign signs and i saw people trying to put signs down on any inch of unclaimed real estate of which there are very few left and today is the last day of early voting. tomorrow is primary election day. and here in our city, without a republican contender, this is tantamount to the election day and it will be exciting after a long campaign to find out who will be the successful candidate in
